CoolTechGirls is partnering with Rev1 Ventures on Feb. 20 for an event introducing 7-12 grade girls to opportunities and programs in STEM fields. Rev1 Ventures, located in Columbus, Ohio assists entrepreneurs in creating startup companies through the services, connections, and funds offered. Our speaker, Heidi Bolyard is a registered architect and the owner of Simplified Living Architecture + Design. Heidi will explain how creativity and art can be combined with STEM for a career in architecture. She will discuss program requirements for an architecture degree, and additional steps that are necessary to become a licensed architect. Heidi also will talk about the role that an architect provides within the construction industry, and additional career paths that can be taken with an education in architecture. In addition, a panel of Ohio State engineering students will speak about their STEM experiences, course requirements and potential job opportunities in engineering disciplines. Hands on activities and a tour of Rev1 will also be part of the event!
